ECO's success can be explained by the fact that when it was launched 14 years ago, it already saw the importance of sustainable entrepreneurship and, as a pioneer in this field, dared to seriously invest in it. Fortunately, there are now several eyewear brands that follow ECO's example, but none have so anchored sustainability in their mission. ECO tries to be as sustainable and socially responsible as possible in all areas. The brand has a 360° approach to this. In addition to sustainably produced glasses, the promotional materials are made from recycled paper. The packaging is made of 100% biodegradable corn flour and the cases are made of recycled PET bottles. The brand has partnerships with NGOs such as Trees for the Future, which collaboration has already led to the planting of more than 3,3 million trees.

Sustainable lines
Sustainable materials are used in every ECO line. Born Biobased is made from vegetable oil, which is extracted from 'castor seeds'. Magnetic clip-ons are available for all glasses in this line, which turn a frame into trendy sunglasses in no time.

Born Recycled is a line whose glasses are made from 95% recycled metal, so only 5% from new sources. This line, for which clip-ons are also available, has been awarded the IF Design Award.

The Bioacetate line is made from biodegradable cellulose acetate, sourced from sustainable and renewable sources. This limits the use of fossil fuels and CO2 emissions. Because the material is Phthalate-free, no plasticizers and solvents are used, making it less harmful to the environment. The glasses have a trendy 'Bold' look and they have a beautiful new integrated flex hinge.
